We are seeking a Manufacturing Technical Support Scientist to carry out a variety of tasks related to the investigation and troubleshooting of products, material and component qualification, and the improvement of existing products under the supervision of senior scientists. The MTS Scientist participates in the creation of associated study protocols as well as data collection and collation during study execution, and analysis and reporting upon completion. MTS Scientist I (Manufacturing Technical Support)

Responsibilities

As a Manufacturing Technical Support Scientist I, you will support the investigation into and implementation of product and manufacturing process changes, and the transfer of new products and processes to the manufacturing departments. In addition, you will perform experimental studies utilizing the company's diagnostic platforms (automated instruments) as directed by senior scientists, approved protocols, written instructions in support of material qualification studies, product investigation studies, or product development/improvement studies.

Other responsibilities for this position include:

  • Perform multiple tasks associated with Preventative Maintenance on all instrument platforms (inclusive of routine, daily and weekly)

  • Perform accurate and timely documentation, per GDP, all aspects of the study, inclusive of test results, observations, etc. as defined per written procedure or protocol.

  • Upon completion of protocols, assist senior scientists in data analysis utilizing appropriate statistical tools (Minitab), worksheets and methods.

  • Maintain data in a well-organized, easy to locate fashion during all aspects of the studies.

  • Assist senior scientists with data tabulation & entry into excel spreadsheets, minitab worksheets, etc.

  • Perform biological sample preparation from human blood and blood products.

  • Maintain accurate inventory of test samples, test reagents, supplies, etc. and procure additional materials through approved processes, inclusive of coordination and delivery from other departments.

  • Establish and maintain accurate identification/labeling of all test samples.

  • Organize and maintain the proper storage of all test samples and materials.

  • Ensure lab and all workstations are properly supplied, clean and well organized prior to study execution.

Qualifications

We are looking for committed and motivated candidates to fill the Manufacturing Technical Support Scientist I position. We seek solid problem-solving skills to support the investigation into and implementation of product and manufacturing process changes. Must demonstrate ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team in a fast paced environment.

Other requirements of the Manufacturing Technical Support Scientist I role include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry or Biochemistry; advanced degree, a plus.

  • Must have schedule flexibility to work irregular hours as necessary in the development, verification, or validation of products or processes to meet project schedules.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.

  • Six Sigma methodology (DFSS or DMAIC) is preferred .

  • A minimum of 2 years work experiences in assay or product development preferred .

  • Immunodiagnostics (ELISA and Molecular diagnostics (molecular biology, PCR techniques, NGS and or microarray data) experience preferred .

  • Proficiency in statistical software (Minitab, StatEase) and DOE's is a plus.
